John Waddingham Memorial Food Drive
In 2009, FACTS Engineering began the food drive in memory of John Waddingham, who lost his fight against cancer that same year. John was an exceptional member of the FACTS team for five years, during which he displayed unyielding dedication to servitude; his focus was always on the needs of others.
All donations received are given to Impact Family Ministries located in New Port Richey. Through the vision of their sister church, Highest Praise Church, the ministry opened in 2008 with the mission to positively impact the spiritual, emotional, and physical lives of the homeless, and those who are in need in the Southwest Pasco communities.
Impact Family Ministries offers church services, a food pantry, hot showers and hot meals to the less fortunate. They also have a “cold night shelter”, so the homeless can receive warmth and comfort during cold nights.
Contributions from FACTS Engineering, along with the multitude of generous donations received from FACTS friends and associates, make a large impact on sustaining the food pantry as well as supplying a number of homeless individuals with new socks and underwear for the better part of the year. Impact serves approximately ninety individuals in the pantry each week. An average of fifteen homeless individuals take advantage of the portable shower each week. Contributions are used to feed the homeless hot meals on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as provide take-away food items from the pantry, such as pop-top, ready-to-eat foods.
Many Impact volunteers are the very people that receive help from the organization. They work hard and do a great job in helping make the lives of the less fortunate better. Through this ministry, many of the homeless have been able to get jobs and are getting off of the streets.
If you are interested in becoming a contributor, please contact us to be added to our mailing list and we will contact you in the fall with this year’s food drive flyer.
